About the app
Video Metadata Eraser removes supported metadata from MP4 and MOV videos on Mac, iPhone and iPad. It creates a separate copy without re-encoding the supplied video or audio. Your original is kept.
How to clean a video
- Add a video. On iPhone or iPad, choose Photos or Files. On Mac, choose or drag in a file.
- Review the detected fields, planned changes and any information that will remain.
- Clean one video for free. If the app offers partial cleaning, review the retained fields before choosing whether to continue.
- On Mac, choose the output folder. On iPhone or iPad, the working copy is kept in Saved Copies; choose Save to Photos or Save to Files to export it.
- Use Verify Copy to inspect the result. Output filenames include _clean. Existing files are not overwritten.
Free features and batch purchase
Single-video cleaning is free, with no limit on the number of single-video operations. Importing and inspecting several videos is also free. Batch cleaning is an optional one-time in-app purchase; there is no subscription. The App Store shows the price in your storefront's currency before you confirm. Canceling the purchase keeps your queue.
Restore Purchases
Use the same Apple Account for Media & Purchases that made the purchase, then choose Restore Purchases in the app's Settings or on the upgrade screen. The planned App Store release uses a shared batch unlock for Mac, iPhone and iPad under the same App Store account. A connection to Apple's services may be needed. A separate app account or Google login is not required.
If a video cannot be cleaned
MP4 and MOV support depends on the internal file structure. Read the reason shown in the app. Some files can be partially cleaned; retained information is listed before you decide to continue. Unsupported, damaged or protected files may remain unavailable. Unknown fields and data inside the compressed video stream can remain. The app does not guarantee anonymity. Photos library records and filesystem attributes are separate from metadata inside a video file.
Photos and Files
Photos may provide a selected representation of a video. To test a specific source file, import it from Files. Saving to Photos requests add-only permission and creates a new library item. If permission was denied, change it in your device's Settings or export to Files instead. Cloud-stored videos may need to finish downloading first. Saved copies and exports remain until you remove them; removing a queue entry does not delete the original or a completed output.
Contact support
Contact support using the email displayed on this page. Include your app version, device model, operating system version, MP4/MOV format, the error message and the steps that caused the issue. A screenshot with private information removed is helpful. Do not send personal videos or a full JSON report unless you choose to after reviewing it: reports can contain original location, dates, device details and file paths. Support does not need your Apple Account password, verification codes or payment card details.
